How the Adyen V3 connector handles authorization and capture timing

For every payment method that supports manual capture, the Adyen V3 connector always sends transactions to Adyen as manual capture (authorization only), regardless of the capture mode configured in your Adyen Customer Area. Capture timing is controlled exclusively in the provider configuration, under Auto Capture Settings (for example, automatic capture immediately after authorization or automatic settlement delay).

Examples

In the provider configuration, under Auto Capture Settings:

  • Delayed capture: If you select Auto Settle Delay: 1 Hour, the transaction is only settled in VTEX after one hour, and capture is also sent to Adyen at that time.
  • Immediate capture: If you select Automatic Capture Immediately After Payment Authorization, the transaction is settled right after the payment is approved.

Payment methods that only support immediate capture are not affected by this rule: Pix, iDEAL, Boleto (Bank Slip), Bancontact Mobile, BLIK, Online banking Poland, MultiBanco, and Bizum.

Payment method specific rules

For rules specific to each payment method, such as payment flow, refund, cancellation, and availability, see the Business Rules section on the corresponding page in the Specific Payment Methods list.
